Hello!
I am Hyeyoung Koh. I am an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University. My research group focuses on steel structures as well as other structural systems, with an emphasis on enhancing their design and analysis for resilience and sustainability. Representative research topics include thermodynamics in steel structures, AI-aided structural design, and structural performance assessment using advanced sensing technologies such as fiber optic sensing.
Before joining WSU, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I received my PhD from UW Madison and my BS and MS in Architectural Engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea.
I am currently looking for (1) postdoctoral scholar and (1) graduate student who can start in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 and who have a background in Structural Engineering, with strong expertise in data analytics, programming, and technical writing. Interested candidates are encouraged to send their CV to hyeyoung.koh (at) wsu (dot) edu.
